The first module of 2024 is Concept Development. I’m feeling quietly confident about this module but also approaching that cockiness with caution. This module is about creating a brand, which I feel based on my experience and career to date, I can do. However, when it’s framed as my fashion brand, I feel my shoulders draw up to my ears and so for now, I’m adopting a sense of detattachment from that thought.
As much as I detest blogs, I am going to continue writing them as they helped my research and development process of the last module. The deliverables for Concept Development are a 2,500 word document that outlines the brand and then portfolio boards with one concept piece at the end.
I am acutely aware that I need to take things one week at a time, see how this project unfolds and try to not get ahead of myself by focusing on the final outcome. I don’t know where this journey will take me (although I pretend to know) and I need to embrace that rather than focusing on a predetermined end point. That’s the joy of this course, the research and the inspiration.
May feels so far away right now but the weeks will fly by as they always do so it’s time to get stuck in. I’m excited.
